Look for our upcoming story about Board member Pat O’Rourke’s visit to Kenya this past January where she and her travel group visited three of the many schools the Maasai girls attend and they also spent time with the MWEEP Kenya leaders!.

We had a fun-filled afternoon of wine, appetizers and donated auction items from the community plus a delightfully funny play in early September at the Jewel Box Theater.  MWEEP friends were able to catch up with one another and new friends  purchased a ticket and ventured out to see what this fun event entailed. They were not disappointed! MWEEP Kenya and MWEEP USA send our heartfelt thank you for taking the time to help educate these girls and women in Kenya.

Formal records from 2007 until 2022 show that  MWEEP has sent 1,116 young girls to secondary school and 367 women on to post-secondary school. Currently in 2023 alone there are 99 young girls in secondary schools and 43 enrolled in post-secondary college/universities/vocational schools. Wow! Because of the support you have empowered these young women have been able to become teachers, accountants, secretaries, business managers, working in community development, tailors, hair dressers, medical workers, bankers, entrepreneurs. This all This all happened because mothers said, “We want different lives for our daughters, but we need help.”  YOU stepped up, – YOU helped.

Many thanks for your donation to Kitsap Great Give, 2023. which went well beyond our expectations.

Every $300 that was donated to MWEEP through the Kitsap Great Give this April sends one girl to secondary school for a full year. In addition MWEEP has been able to send ten more women to post secondary school for this term. We are truly thankful for your faithful generosity and support which once again offers these girls and young Maasai women hope and changed lives through education. We all send our heartfelt thanks.

Our September 18th Jewel Box auction and play at the Jewel Box Theatre was a huge success and allot of fun. We raised funds to send girls and women to school in Kenya for another term. A big thank you to all who came and those who donated their time and items. And thank you to the following local businesses who participated: Apex Media and Root Sport – Mariner’s tickets, Jan Kelly – Estate Planning, Kingston Ale House, Kingston Firehouse Theatre, and Bloedel Reserve.
